지구온난화 방지를 위한 화학적 처리 기술의 개발현황 보도 요망

"환경과 생물공학을 전공하는 교수로서 지역사회에 이바지하고 싶다. 현재 배상면 주가와 산학협동으로 사업을 추진하고 있다. 대학과 연계하면 좋은 점이 많은데 포천지역 기업들이 영세한 편이다. 특히 포천은 농업인구가 많기 때문에 농업을 주로 하는 공장을 설립하는 것도 필요하다고 본다."

대진대학교 화학공학과 박영규(사진)교수는 서울에서 출생해 한양대학교 화공과와 미국 플로리다대학교 화공과에서 석박사 학위를 취득하고 1997년 대진대학교에 부임했다.

박 교수의 전공은 생명공학제품의 가공을 위한 분리 정제기술개발(농산가공물 및 발효액 정제 등을 통한 고부가 제품의 개발)과 생물학적 2차 부산물을 이용한 이산화탄소 처리(지구온난화가 가속화되고 있는 이유는 화석연료를 과다하게 배출하는 원인이 주원인이 미므로 이를 생물학적으로 처리하는 기술을 소지하고 있음)다.

현재 대진대학교에서 화공열역학 과목을 강의하고 있으며 전공 관련하여 포천사회에 기여할 수 있는 일은 생물공학제품의 선도, 환경미생물처리 공법의 개발 그리고 농산물 및 임산물 가공 등이라고 밝혔다.

전공관련하여 포천시민들에게 당부하고 싶은 말은 대학과의 유기적인 교통으로 산학협동을 해 나가기를 기대한다.

평소좌우명 "성실"을 바탕으로 "기초를 튼튼히"라는 교육철학으로 학생들을 지도하고 있는 박 교수는 최근 일본에서 개발된 콜레스트롤을 제거할 수 있는 쌀을 경작할 필요도 있다고 주장한다.

구제역을 예방할 수 있는 방법은 면역을 길러주는 것이라며 면역을 길러주기 위해서는 먹는 것을 연구하면 된다.

특히 쌀 농사를 잘 지으려면 비료에 대한 성분을 분석해야 하는데 포천시는 전혀 그러한 시도가 없는 것이 문제라고 지적했다. 인근에 있는 고양시의 경우에는 매우 활발하게 움직이고 있으며 직접 학교로 찾아와 각종 실험을 위한 성분분석을 의뢰하는 등 다양하게 활동하고 있다고 한다.

엘지전자, 씨제이, 대우자동차 등 주요 대기업에서 환경관련 교육에 나서고 있는 박 교수는 포천 농가들이 농업진흥청과 서울농대 등과 활발한 교류를 통해 농업의 살길을 연구해 나가야 한다고 강조한다. 예를 들어 농산물 가공을 위한 공장 설립 등 추진해야 할 분야가 다양하다. 특히 FTA협상으로 외국의 우수한 기술력과 경쟁하려면 많은 연구와 실험이 필요하다고 지적했다.

생물공학회와 환경공학회에서 활동하고 있는 박 교수는 지구온난화로 이산화탄소가 증가하고 있어 이를 제거하는 연구를 하고 있다. 이산화탄소를 제거하여 지구온난화를 방지하는 연구가 필요하다.
